I spent the morning working but the weather was so different to the
previous few days that I decided to go out for a couple of hours in the
afternoon. I got to Snowbird about 1:30, leaving just over 2 and a half
hours for skiing.
First run was a cruise down Bassackwards and then the easy moguls on Lower Bassackwards. I then headed for the Tram. |
|
Snowbird opened new terrain on the backside of Hidden Peak since my
previous visit, so I headed over to Mineral Basin to investigate.
With fresh powder, the terrain was pretty interesting. For the first run, I took a long traverse across Path to Paradise to get to slightly easier terrain. I fell on my first turn in the powder of White Diamond and then stopped to help a youngster find a lost ski. Powder Paradise was the easiest way down, but was still covered in moguls. On my second trip down, I noticed the sign warning that because of conditions none of the trails were suitable for beginners or intermediates. This time I took a slightly more direct run down Not Quite Corn and Lone Star, not coping with the soft powder very well at all. I did a little better on my third run and then found that Mineral Basin was closed. The soft bumps of Primrose Path and Silver Fox took me back to Gad Valley to finish off the day. |
|
From the top of Gadzoom, I just about made it down Bassackwards
as far as Gad II lift before it closed.
I turned straight back below the lift down the moguls of Gadzooks and then on to the moguls of Lower Bassackwards for a satisfying finish to the day. |
|
I finished around 4:15. Less than 3 hours but my legs were pretty tired. |
